"It feels such a natural way to work with my baby"

My work

And so I began to teach Yoga for Baby – postnatal classes, in and around Edinburgh, in Scotland. I have now worked with thousands of babies accompanied by their mummies, daddies, grandparents and carers over the last 10 years and it never ceases to amaze me how much there is to learn from babies.

I teach weekly classes, as well as working on a one–to–one basis with some mummies and their babies. I have worked with babies from two weeks old and some have stayed with me until way past their first birthday. All have been unique and memorable, some with different challenges in life – from premature babies, babies with hip braces, asthma, eczema, babies who required oxygen tanks, babies with hydrocephalus, babies with Down‘s syndrome, amongst others. Each and every one of these babies are dear to my heart and I remember them all. I still have the pleasure of seeing some of those babies who are now all grown up and almost at secondary school as their brothers and sisters now attend or their mummies attend my adult Yoga classes and courses.

I am eternally grateful and honoured that all these babies have shared the first few months of their lives with me. It is an immense privilege and pleasure for me to have met and worked with all of these new adventurers in life. For more information please visit background section

Please Note: This photograph was taken by Avril in Pokhara, Nepal in 1989 when she stayed with this family. The baby shares the same birthday as Avril.
